Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The free consultation allows us to get to know each other a little to make sure we’re the right fit. You can tell me a bit of what brings you to counselling, and I can share with you how we can help. It also allows us to go over some policies so that doesn’t take away from your counselling time in your first session. There is no actual counselling during a consultation, it is a time for introductions.
During your consultation you will learn more about the counselling process and have an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have before starting. It truly is obligation free, and if for any reason it’s not a good fit, I will do my best to connect you with another counsellor.

I see clients on a weekly, biweekly basis. Clients often have a specific time and day reserved for them, at a frequency that feels most supportive.

Everything that is discussed in sessions is confidential and will not be communicated to anyone without your knowledge and written consent. By law, there are just a few exceptions to this strict confidentiality:
When there is an imminent risk of you harming yourself or others
When there is suspicion or disclosure of abuse/neglect of a child
When client records are subpoenaed by court order
During my regular one-to-one supervision with a qualified and approved clinical supervisor. Only information relevant to clinical guidance is discussed, and important identifying details about clients are kept strictly confidential.
-
I require 48 hours notice for cancellations or the full fee will be charged. Please note that this policy is based on fairness to you, your counsellor, and other clients needing appointments.
-
My fee for individual therapy is $175 per hour (GST included). I also offer a sliding scale, meaning there are a limited number of reduced-fee spots for clients who could use some financial flexibility. If cost feels like a barrier, you’re welcome to ask about availability.
Payment is processed at the end of each session by debit, credit, or e-transfer. Many clients choose to provide authorization for automatic credit card billing so they don’t have to manage payment after the first session.
Sessions are eligible for reimbursement with most insurance providers.

"Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual that allows someone to identify or contact you, including, for example, your mailing address, telephone number, or e-mail address.
I take the protection of your information very seriously and never compromise on security. In order to ensure the utmost safety, I adhere to widely recognized industry standards. This means that from the moment you submit your information to me, whether it's during transmission or once I receive it, all necessary measures are in place to safeguard it. If, for instance, I happen to collect sensitive data like credit card information, rest assured that it is encrypted and transmitted securely. Additionally, any computers or servers in my possession that store personally identifiable information are stored in a secure environment, further ensuring your data's protection.
